PEACE PATRON
AWARD & CELEBRATION
Mosaic Institute celebrated our 15th anniversary by bringing back the Peace Patron Award & Celebration in-person to honour a Canadian who has championed our goal of dismantling prejudice in their community.
Thank you to our Champion sponsor:

PEACE PATRON EVENT
On #GivingTuesday, we came together to celebrate dismantling prejudice and raised over $264,000!
On Tuesday, November 29th, 2022 at the Bram and Bluma Appel Salon, we came together to award Mohamad Fakih, entrepreneur and philanthropist, as the 2022 Peace Patron.
To our donors, supporters, volunteers, staff and everyone who came together to make this such a special evening, thank you. We couldn't do this work without you.

“Bottom line here, having a diverse team, coming from a lot of places around the world, again it’s not something that makes your company look better, it’s actually something that makes your company more profitable. It gives you opportunity to expand more.”
- Mohamad Fakih, 2022 Peace Patron Award Winner
MOSAIC'S 2022 PEACE PATRON AWARD WINNER IS
MOHAMAD FAKIH
Mohamad Fakih is the Founder of Paramount Fine Foods and is known for his humanitarian efforts supporting newcomers and refugees.
A community leader, Mr. Fakih regularly participates in fundraisers and community events, supporting multiple causes and organizations.
In 2016, after the Canadian government decided to welcome 25,000 Syrian Refugees, Mr. Fakih made headlines when he travelled to Lebanon to visit the Islamic Relief Camps for Syrian Refugees to gain a deeper understanding of relief efforts. Hoping to lead by example, Mr. Fakih partnered with Toronto Metropolitan University for the Lifeline Syria Challenge to fund employment support to help recruit new Syrian Canadians during their job search.
Mr. Fakih’s determination to uphold the values of giving back to communities where Paramount restaurants are located has resulted in a workplace culture of giving to others and supporting one another. He has made philanthropy and giving back a key part of Paramount’s culture and identity. In 2022, Mr. Fakih was appointed to the Order of Canada in recognition of his business and community leadership, as well as for his philanthropy in his community and abroad.

THE AWARD
The Peace Patron Award is an annual award granted by the Mosaic Institute.
As an organization, we value inclusion, education, and conflict resolution and our award recipients don't only embody these values, but share so many others.
Dismantling prejudice is important and possible in all industries, and we have awarded the Peace Patron Award to exemplary people over the last decade, which has included politicians, activists, teachers and artists. Their common ground however, is in their commitment to advancing Canada as a peaceful and just society.

'In Dialogue With' Mohamad Fakih was guest hosted by Aarti Pole
Thank you Aarti for making this 'In Dialogue With' unforgettable. Aarti Pole is a host with CBC News Network, reporting breaking stories across the country daily. She has been in this role with CBC since 2016. Prior to joining the News Network team in Toronto, she was the Washington correspondent for Global National.
