LEADING
MULTICULTURALISM

CANADA'S IMPACT ON GLOBAL DIVERSITY POLICIES

THE PROJECT

2021 marked the 50th anniversary of Canada’s Multiculturalism Policy, which was created in 1971. 'Leading Multiculturalism' is a digital resource that reflects on the past 50 years of the Policy and its impact at home and abroad.

Our work highlights how 19 other countries across the globe approach multiculturalism in their domestic policy, international advocacy, and civil society, measured against a matrix of Canada’s key elements.

This interactive web element is youth-led and youth-created. Their perspectives are imperative to consider as we look ahead to the next 50 years of multiculturalism both here at home, and abroad.

A video presentation of our Key Findings from our global comparative analysis on multiculturalism policies and international commitments to multiculturalism.  This presentation was part of Multiculturalism @50, Metropolis Canada’s 4th Annual Forum on Measuring Identities (Oct. 6-8, 2021)
